Central
Moravia – Haná
Central Moravia – Haná is a region which stands above the
vast majority of tourism areas in the Czech Republic when
it comes to monuments. Less than 50 km separate the two most
significant historic centres, the towns of Olomouc and Kroměříž.
Both towns, in addition to the other historical gems and treasures
they harbour, are listed on the UNESCO List of World Cultural
and Natural Heritage: Olomouc, for its 35 metre-high Holy
Trinity Column, and Kroměříž, for its Archbishop’s Chateau
and Botanical Gardens. The richness of the historical monuments
of these centres and other towns and villages is augmented
by the personal touch of the ethnic area of Haná. In the summer
a number of folklore events take place here, and you can see
the beautiful local costumes, customs, and enjoy the hospitality
of the local people. Folklore celebrations are not the only
enticing events for tourists. These days, every town, village,
castle and chateau prepares surprises and experiences for
the high tourism season. The castles of Bouzov, Helfštýn,
Šternberk, the chateaux of Náměšť na Hané, Čechy pod Kosířem.
Unique pilgrimage destinations. And active holidays are also
on offer. The wide assortment of cycling trails in the Haná
lowlands attracts more and more enthusiasts each year. Less
well-known is the fact that Haná prides itself on its gorgeous
and unsullied nature. In addition to famous caves and a number
of nature preserves, you will find an incredible 18 instructional
nature trails. And perhaps you are already acquainted with
the aroma of real Olomouc cheese—the one-of-a-kind cheese
famous beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.
