The Slatinice Spa, called
the Píany of Haná, is situated in the western part of the
Olomouc region approx. 15 km west of Olomouc, the capitol
of Haná. The region is dominated by a vast forested massif
of Velký Kosíř (in the altitude of 442 m).

The historical roots of the spa go back as far as the 16th
century when the first documentary proof of treatment using
the sulphuric springs of imon of Nadějov, a local nobleman,
was documented. The tradition of a real spa treatment that
has been provided for over 300 years is impressive. From this
point of view, Slatinice is the oldest known spa in Moravia.
The spa was established around the year 1697 in the position
of the main spa building named Morava. The building in its
present shape was built in 1733 by knight Alois Josef Lichtentejn.

The essentials of the spa therapy are hydrogen sulphide baths
of temperatures 35 - 38°C having their source in several places.
The summer natural swimming pool is watered from one of these
springs. The water therapy is supplemented by various kinds
of electrotherapy (TENS currents, interferential, Traebert
s, myostimulation, and DD currents), sonography, phototherapy,
pulsatory magneto therapy, paraffin and mud, dry carbonic
baths, etc.
The therapeutic procedures of the Slatinice spa enable a very
successful cure of chronic diseases of the locomotive apparatus,
post traumatic afflictions of the locomotive system, postoperative
orthopaedic conditions, and the opportunity of pre-operative
preparation for a planned surgery of this type.
