to know the full history of places visited in an ample number
of museums. Each person will find what interests them most.
The museums of the Haná region often go beyond the borders
of the region and many of them boast unique exhibitions.

Firefighters’ Museum

One of the largest Moravian fire-fighting museums, focussing
on the former factory of the Smékal Brothers, which manufactured
fire-fighting equipment. The museum itself stands on the site
of one of the former manufacturing halls and it houses a unique
collection of fire-fighting tools and machinery.

Museum and Local Gallery
The museum offers a complete history of the town and memorials
to significant persons from Holešov and its surroundings.

Town Museum and Gallery
The museum’s activities are concentrated in the historical
Town Hall building on Masaryk Square. Aside from tours of
the beautiful gothic hall, visitors can see furnishings of
burghers’ houses, a model of the Hranice chateau and adjacent
streets, showing how the town might have looked circa 1750.

Kojetín District Museum

Located in the Education and Information Centre on Masarykovo
náměstí (Masaryk Square). New expositions annually. In the
Jewish Corner there is a mini-exposition bearing witness to
the life of the Jewish community in Kojetín, from the 15th
century to its liquidation by Fascists in 1942. Part of the
museum is a gallery dedicated to famous sons and daughters
of Kojetín and an exhibition hall of contemporary artists.

Kroměříž
Regional Museum
Exhaustive overview of the development of settlements in the
Kroměříž area and a natural history exhibition entitled Nature
and Man. As well as these, there is a memorial to the painter

Natural History Museum

Thanks to its unique collections, numbering thousands of pieces,
the borders of Central Moravia are often extended abroad.
One item of interest, for example, is an exposition entitled
Olomouc Over the Centuries which will acquaint you with the
rich history of Olomouc in an unusual fashion.

Museum of Art

The museum owns an enormous collection of European old masters
and a collection of 20th century Czech art. In the extent
of its collections it is the third largest institution of
its type in the country. Its collection of roughly 60,000
items is made up of paintings, sculptures, drawings, graphic
works, photography, furniture and book art

Mini-Museum of the Giant Drásal
Height: 2.42 metres; Weight: 186 kilogrammes – these are the
figures for the most famous native of Haná. They belonged
to the legendary giant, Josef Drásal, who lived in Chromeč
u Zábřeha in the 19th century and has his own mini-museum
today in the Olomouc town centre.

Regional Museum
Permanent exhibition, offering an overview of the geological
past and prehistoric history of the region, as well as an

Comenius
Museum

The Přerov Comenius Museum is proud of its title as the oldest
museum of its kind in the world. Mineral collections, a reconstruction
of schoolrooms from the 17th century to the early 20th century,
and Haná folklore await you in the Renaissance chateau. There
are also collections dedicated to J. A. Komenský, known throughout
the world as Comenius, who studied and later taught at the
Přerov Czech Brethren Academy and to J. Blahoslav, the significant
linguist, historian, and native son.

Museum in Předmostí
A memorial to the world famous archaeological finds of the
prehistoric settlements of mammoth hunters in Předmostí u
Přerova, an exhibition of prehistoric times in several rooms
of the Comenius Basic School. On Čekyňský hill near Přerov
prehistoric times are commemorated by a life-size statue of
a mammoth.

Museum U Vodní branky

Exposition on the history of the former royal town of Uničov,
